It was Jane who introduced me to Amy, after inviting me to be on the selection committee for the art scholarship that they’ve both nurtured for decades. I’ve done a lot of volunteering in my life, but never with as much joy as when working with these two. Some of that has to do with scholarship itself—I love the idea of helping young artists on their path—but a lot of it is Amy, whose leadership style is best described as an effusive trust that inspires the best in everyone.
