When I walked into the book club that first time, I was immediately on guard. Besides Hannah, the only other people in the library meeting room were older white men: Scot and Phil. Fresh off of my six years living in a conservative part of New Jersey, my assumption was that these men would talk over me and probably not have anything particularly interesting to say. I’m so glad I was wrong.
