Sometimes boys mate with girls, but leave once the babies are made.

Among black rhinoceroses, adults come together to mate, but after a few days or a few weeks they separate again. Mothers raise their calves for two to three years but chase them away as they prepare to give birth again.

And sometimes girls mate with boys and skip out before the children need any care.
