I came up with the design for this painting soon after I finished this piece at the beginning of 2022, but, in the intervening year, I moved to a new town, quit social media completely, and made a whole series about those two big changes, while also working on this collection of paintings. That happens sometimes with art: I have an idea for a piece, but life gets in the way of making it happen immediately, just like with this Progress Pride flag turtle.
