I’ve never been particularly good at drawing a straight line, but until 2015 I faked it okay. I used a ruler or painter’s tape to set up the lines in paintings like this one or this one, but as I sat down to work on this piece something shifted for me. I decided to let my lines be perfectly imperfect, and I carried that intention through to this rainbow house too. You can watch me make this painting.
