I don’t often work from other people’s photos to paint my portraits, but it does happen now and again—most often with my self-portraits, including this one. To paint this double portrait, I was looking at stills taken from a wedding video from the 1960s. The subjects are my parents-in-law, two lovely people I painted in 2010.
