Blog / 2013 / The Artist’s Story
May 6, 2013
Not too long ago, I posted a vlog in which I complained about successful artists who can’t answer the question “how did you go from being what you were before to being an artist?” and then gave my own response to the question.
After watching it, an angry denizen of the interwebs lambasted me for assuming that everyone had as much support from their families as I had growing up, while also calling me a “snot nosed brat.” Though the rude mini-rant seemed to be prompted by nothing I had actually said in my vlog, it did inspire me to make this video about how where you come from has very little to do with whether or not you will manage to be an artist.
For more about the courage it takes to be an artist, watch this vlog, and, to read my art marketing book which gets into the passion aspect, go here.
Art is the love of other humans made tangible across space and time. When a person can’t get a hug from a friend, art is there to make them feel seen and understood. Please share my work with your favorite people!
Maybe this post made you think of something you want to tell me? I’d love to hear from you.
