This GIF came easily because I was essentially animating the original painting to do what I always imagined it doing anyway. It would be like if this artwork alternated between Bettie breaking into a full smile as she leans forward and then returning to her knowing half-smile to watch you again. In fact, many of my paintings are on the verge of movement like these two.
