Artwork / 2026 / Richie

I met this portrait’s subject because this painting was hanging in the window of this artist’s studio near where the subject was living. Richie was stopped in his tracks by my depiction of one of his favorite writers, and he immediately made it his business to find out all about my work. I’m grateful to James Baldwin for many wonderful things and for Richie’s presence in my life most of all.
