Growing up, first Charlotte’s Web and then Animal Farm took over my imagination. By the time I was in the seventh grade, I was writing a novel about talking animals that had everything to do with saving the world. While I never finished that book, twenty years later I had the opportunity to create this cover image for a book about precisely the same thing. It’s by Joan Roughgarden, the biologist who wrote the foreword for my book Crime Against Nature.
