When the Oscar-winning actor William Hurt commissioned me, I ended up painting three portraits of him in all. The image shown here isn’t the painting I delievered to him, instead it’s this painting, and I only share the third piece on my site in this blog post about meeting Hurt and photographing him. I don’t normally paint people multiple times in order to fulfill a commission, though it does happen.

The artwork shown above is also one of the first paintings I created with a new wide brush, which I talk about at length in this blog post. Notice the difference of brush strokes between this portrait and this one from a few months earlier.
