When I met with Bill for our interview, he said he was “97% fun” and that answer reminded me of Ron’s from Snow Days. Adults are generally pretty good at giving verbal cues about which direction to take a portrait, but when I’m painting kids like this one I have less to work with in terms of the subject’s self-mythology.
