These zebras aren’t the only striped creatures I’ve ever painted: I made an image of a tiger in 2014. Below is the text from the book Crime Against Nature that goes with this image.

Girls and boys don’t always look any different from one another.

Zebras of both sexes tend to be the same size, which means that they have the same feeding requirements. This allows males and females to forage together in co-ed groups, an unusual arrangement for ungulates.
