Besides this image of walruses, there are a couple of close-in compositions in this series, notably the wolves and the elephants. In all three of these cases, the entire composition shows only the species being depicted and nothing else. Below is the text from the book Crime Against Nature that goes with this image.
Some boys just prefer boys to girls.
By ten years old, male walruses are sexually mature, but it is not until a few years later that they mate with females. Juvenile males, sexually mature males between the ages of ten and fifteen, and older males all participate in affectionate and sexual behaviors with each other throughout the year.
