One of the many things I learned as I worked on this series was how to paint grass, like in the painting featured here and in this one too. Below is the text from the book Crime Against Nature that goes with this image.

Plenty of boys help raise younger children.

Meerkats are small, burrowing mammals who live in clans of twenty or more individuals. The group includes one or more breeding pairs, and animals of both sexes take turns watching over the young at the nest while the remainder of the clan forages for food.
