When I arrived at Michael’s home to deliver this portrait, his dog barked and barked at me. I started to put the painting down in order to more properly greet the pup and, hopefully, get her to stop yapping at me. That’s when I discovered that she wasn’t making a fuss about me but about the portrait. I was delighted! That’s maybe the nicest thing a dog has ever said about my work—believing a portrait to be a real person.
I don’t have a dog of my own, but I love animals a lot, specifically this one.
