Andy agreed to sit for me on one condition: when I make my first million, I have to buy him a nice bottle of wine. As with all my conceptual series, from Apple Pie to Empathetic Magic, the subjects lend me their stories and their faces without compensation. Sometimes, outside of my series, I trade the art itself for a chance to meet and paint the subject, like I did here and here.
