Besides being a paramedic and a subject for Private Masks, Steve is a comic book artist. When I went to his house to interview him, he showed me his studio and gave me a peak at a self-portrait in purples and yellows. The image stuck with me and his color choices made it into my composition, but this wasn’t the first time I’d focused on that palette.
