Phil is part of the writers’ group at the library, AKA the first people to read the memoirish how-to book that I wrote at the beginning of the pandemic. There’s a vulnerability to that—to sharing an unpolished and very personal text—and there’s also a reason why I kept sharing. I call that reason the Phil-Sonya-Scot-Hannah, named for the OG group of writers who started this journey together and who have made me feel more nurtured as an artist than I have since college.
