In many ways, miniature portraits like this one are the opposite of where I started as an artist, making entire series of four by three foot paintings. The evolution from big to tiny might seem strange, but I’m convinced that if I’d tried to go the other direct my work wouldn’t be nearly so rich and dynamic.
