Artwork / 2019 / Sarita Gupta

This is the last portrait to be completed in a series of eleven that I painted for a book about Allyson, Bettie, Cynthia, Deloris, Heather, Jeff, Kimberly, Lidia, Rubynell, Sanchioni, and Smiley. This painting of Sarita is my second portrait of her, but the first doesn’t really count since I refuse to publish it as a finished piece—though you can see it in the video here. Sometimes that happens as I work: I have to go through one image in order to get to the one I mean to paint, like with this baby portrait from 2011.
