I am very much a figurative artist. By that I mean that I prefer to paint in a way that represents the world around us directly. That said, my art always gets close to abstraction—sometimes very close. The marks I make lend my work an unreal quality, and this painting of a grape hyacinth takes my abstract tendencies a step further by representing an already abstract-looking flower.
