I created this painting in eleven days. Normally I like to give myself more time to paint a portrait—anywhere from a few months to a year—but I made an exception for TJ’s portrait so that it would be ready in time for Spread Ego, an exhibition made up entirely of portraits of this one man. I also made an exception for this public art piece, which had to be finished in just 72 hours.
