This portrait is one of a whole series that I drew from life during the last visit I had with my grandmother in 2009. I’ve painted my Mamy plenty: in 2001 with my grandfather and in 2010 as a miniature and in a larger painting. The You Bag I painted of my Mamy in 2011 is one of my all-time favorite artworks.
